Tailoring my C.V for a retail job?
The fact that you have a strong background in IT will work in your favour - you'll need it when those bloody EPOS tills crash!
To work in retail you need to be reliable, hardworking, able to work well under pressure, and be literate. You also need to be a good communicator who has excellent people skills.
If you haven't had a retail job before then put on your CV that you are looking for a job where you are able to enhance and utilise your people skills.
Retail managers are looking for reliable people who will do their best in whatever job, are able to work weekends and late nights, so put down that your hours are flexible.
Often Supermarkets are the best places to start as they will train you up and always have jobs going. Christmas temping is a great way to get into retail although not all of them have an opportunity for you to stay on after Xmas, and the shops with highest number of applicants are usually places like HMV and Virgin.
