Looking for a place to live around washington D.C. for college grads, near nightlife?

I just graduated college, and am getting a full-time job in D.C. I wanted to be able to go out on the weekends and was wondering where all the nightlife was located so I know where to look for housing.

Congrats on graduating and moving to DC. Check out many of the neighborhoods in Northwest DC, especially Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, and Friendship Heights. All are on the Red Line of the Metro and are fun areas and have lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. Also I would check out Bethesda, MD - it's right across the line from DC and downtown Bethesda has lots of good restaurants and bars and stuff too. Silver Spring is also right across the line from DC and it's becoming a more happening place too (I like Bethesda better, although Silver Spring may be cheaper - and it's also improving as far as the nightlife and stuff). Both Bethesda and Silver Spring are on the Red Line as well and have easy access to downtown DC. Georgetown is another option but I wouldn't live there - you could always go there to hang out but I wouldn't look into it to live there. It's expensive even by DC standards and the Metro doesn't go there (although there are buses).
Reply:I suggest looking at Arlington (especially around the Clarendon area). It's an expensive place to live but you'd have easy access to Metro and a pretty good night life too. I might also suggest Georgetown, but that would be really expensive and no Metro access (buses, sure, but not the subway). Bethesda might be another good option for you too.

Reply:Greenbelt or go into Va.
Reply:It depends on your budget and preference (studio, 1 bedroom, room share, etc), honestly. Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Georgetwon, and the U st area are all hot spots for the weekends. Check craigslist or the washington city paper for classifieds for vacancies. I recommend looking at Columbia Heights. It's within walking distance to Adams Morgan and right on the metro line. They're starting to renovate some new condos and apartment complexes in that area so you might find a good deal if you get in early!
Reply:Mindboggling thought, how about in DC? Arlington and Bethesda aren't exactly cheap...and you want something to do there on the weekends? You could always go the movies with your married friends, or babysit. There are equally priced neighborhoods in the city that actually have stuff to do. Try Cleveland Park, Woodley Park, Connecticut Heights, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle...or my favorite for those who want greenspace in the city....Glover Park.
Reply:Georgetown (for shopping especially!)

or
