Why do you HAVE to do religous studies for a g.c.s.e?
There is no point.

Religion is nothing but blind belief, dogma, bigotry, superstition, the preservation of vested interests and the exploitation the weak-minded. The conclusion is, therefore, that God is a both a fantasy and the delusion of fools.
Reply:You do not have to.

You probably go to a faith school, or a state school maintained largely by a faith group which will have a lot of influence on its curriculum.
Reply:Life skills, learn about other cultures, understanding peoples beliefs.
Reply:Even if you are not religious it is important that you learn about the world's important religions. There is so much going on in the world right now that has religious overtones, that is necessary to have at least a basic idea about them to be able to make sense of current events.
Reply:in reference to jobs and having the gcse grade just improves your awareness of other religions and the traditions of the cultures. in my personal experience and to jobs it shows that you are equally open to respect other culturs, ethnicity etc. .
Reply:It help to empathise with people from different 'ethnic' backgrounds when you get into work.. You don't want to be fired for saying something and the listener takes it out of context. Racism, or a lack of care, when talking to people of different ethnicities and religious background beliefs to yourself is gross misconduct in many workplaces, so do yourself a favour and learn the basics about religions now so you don't get the sack from the future job you might like!! *shruggs*
Reply:its an easy A, dont complain

Its multi-cultural brainwashing though, so take it with a pich of salt.
Reply:Because schools get extra funding for it! And it's part of a government initiative to pretend that we're a Christian country. But stick with it, you might actually find it interesting if you pay attention and treat it like a "real" subject!
Reply:i dont no to be honist , i have to do it do , apparently its compulsary and set by the gouv !
Reply:Do you go to a Catholic school?
