Title says it all.
Everyone in the company knows why I got my job. Turns out, I'm really good at it. However, no matter how "good" I do, I don't seem to earning respect. I know people are spiteful of me.
I just feel like my opinions are never taken "seriously" by some people because they think I'm just here to collect the paycheck and to please the person who got me here (who doesn't work for the company).
Will I ever be taken seriously? Or should I leave?
I got my job b/c of who I know. I'm now very good at that job, but I don't get the respect I deserve, leave?
I say stick with it. Your not the first person to ever get their job in this manner. I have gotten my last two jobs this way. People will see that you are good. It will take a while. They may never see past their jealousy.
Reply:You have no one to thank for this situation but yourself. Hopefully you'll think twice when you try to bypass the merit system and use your connections to the extent that you have.
No one will take you seriously. Start searching for a new job and when you have one, leave.
Reply:Stay put........Do not leave.lf you are good at this job, then you are a valuable asset to the company.l am sure your superiors value your input.Ignore your work mates as they do not sound like...........team mates.
Look after number one at the present.Your workmates may be doing their job,but at the end of the day everyone has to put in 100% as a team to make a profit for the company. !!!!!!
Reply:You may not be taken seriously but you shouldn't be worrying about that too much right now. I find that many people get where they are by their contacts and who they know. It's very common. If I were you I would just be focusing on my job and what I'm good at. You're not really there to make friends and shouldn't care too much of what people think right now. It might take you a couple years to prove yourself... but you are doing this for yourself. Not for anyone else. I'd say stick to it and show them who you are.
Reply:Rule 1 never quit a job until you have a new one. If the job you have pays good money STAY. Respect in nice but you can not put it in the bank or pay rent ect. And as to rule 1 it should be a better job. Work up the ladder not down.
Reply:You can earn or force their respect with time and talent.
Reply:There is no reason to leave if you are doing a great job! Who the heck cares how you got your job, just as long as your job well.
Don't stop voicing your opinions, persistence pays off in the end.
Jealously is a B*tch, just don't become one! Stick it out at your job. Your co-workers will soon realize that you are an asset to the company.
Good Luck!
