Hi,
I'm really looking forward to my new job. I already passed two important interviews, but I still need to complete my orientation. I already took the pre-employment drug test, and awaiting results and should pass because I don't do drugs.
Anyway do you know what duties involes in receiving/shipping dept. Like a thorough explanation in FULL detail on what to do? Obviously I don't have any experience, so ALL help is appreciated. It's a good paying job and I really need to help support my family. thanks in advance.
Please help with new job at Wal-Mart d.c. on shipping and receiving?
basiclly taking an inventory of what comes in and what goes out, usually printed papers with items on there will have to be acounted for. also some loading and unloading of trucks
Reply:If you have gone through two interviews and a drug screen, they are most likely planning on hiring you and they probably know you have no experience, but feel you are intelligent, trustworthy, and are willing to train you. Every place has different types of shipping/receiving jobs so it would be hard to give you a full detail. Those jobs usually take place in the 'stock room', which can be without climate control based on the store. (No A/C and poor heat) You may unload trucks trailers (HOT in the summer %26amp; COLD in the winter), put store stock on the floor or holding areas, scan boxes with hand-held devices to direct them in the right area, You might have to learn how to operate a fork lift, (not too difficult), you may count things for the store inventory, you may box things up to send back to the manufacturer that may be defective, you might have to operate a computer with the stores software or if you have to ship things out, it might be UPS or FedEx Software, etc....etc....It might seem overwhelming, but with proper training, it's not bad. Good Luck!
