I prefer the mental health field but I will take any hospital job I can get in D.C. I'll be moving there on 1/20/08.
What is the best hospital to work for in Washington,D.C.?
Try Sibley Memorial Hospital if you are interested in mental health work. They mostly take the "easy" cases (for example, they try to avoid involuntary commitments). Sibley is in an upscale residential neighborhood on the border of Northwest DC and Montgomery County, and it is a clean, safe, "nice" place to work. Here is their Web link. http://www.sibley.org/
A larger hospital not far away that has a substantial number of mental health positions is Suburban Hospital in Montgomery County. They are the crisis center for the county with respect to mental health patients. That means, of course, that they get some of the more difficult patients, but it also means more jobs. Suburban also handles a lot of addiction cases. http://www.suburbanhospital.org/
Of course, DC's "official" mental hospital, St. Elizabeth's (universally called "St. E's") has the most jobs. But it also has the greatest turnover. It is located in a run-down part of town, it handles the toughest cases, and it is chronically underfunded. But if your definition of the "best" place to work means the place where you are most needed, St. E's would be for you. http://dmh.dc.gov/dmh/cwp/view,a,3,q,516...
And don't forget that the National Institute of Mental Health is located in the DC area (right across the street from Suburban Hospital, as it happens). They hire a lot of people, not just scientists. http://www.jobs.nih.gov/
Hope this helps. Good luck, and welcome to Washington!!
Reply:D.C. health care (esp emergency health care) stinks... I would suggest working in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins (see link below)
But you can also work for the department of mental health (link also below)
Reply:Sibley Memorial Hospital. Its top rated.

Long shot: Anyone need some real cheap A/C repair in Ft. Lauderdale? (See details, please?)?
My best buddy, Brian got layed off last month, and he's really hurting financially. He's a certified HVAC tech (heating and air conditioning). Until he's hired full-time again after this seasonal winter slump in FL - is there anyone who needs a good a/c guy with great skills to fix an a/c problem? You can easily email me, and I will put you in touch with him. (He had to give up his own email, cuz he's that broke due to this layoff.) He's actively seeking work, and needs to be with a larger firm, I think. He's already applied for 2 dozen other jobs, but times are tough here. He's got 15 yrs exp., own truck and tools, and a nice guy. This is a great chance to get a CHEAP a/c repair, install, or service for a failing unit. He's open to other job offers, too. And p.s., I'm OUT of noodles, so I can only deliver so many more casseroles to him, to keep him alive? :) Thanks in advance, -Jim
Long shot: Anyone need some real cheap A/C repair in Ft. Lauderdale? (See details, please?)?
I don't, but has he thought about getting into home inspection?
He could use his HVAC skills, it is similar but easier work, and there is demand most of the year.
Next year, it would seem that he would be in the same boat if he doesn't do something different because there will always be a winter.

Advertising jobs?
I am still enrolled in college I have about another year left, I am getting a bachelor's degree in visual communications (graphic design, adveritising etc.)
I have had a very hard time with school and my grades have sucked up until now because I have all the time to study now so my grades will definately be A's and B's, not C's and D's. My question is, when I go to apply for jobs, they will know I have my bachelor's degree in Visual Communications..will my individual grades make an impact on if I get the position? will I show proof of diploma or actual transcripts?
Also, will it make a difference that they see the last year I had mostly all A's? I just am nervous about this..
Advertising jobs?
You should check out www.fhtmfreedom.com and position yourself in what is said to be the fastest growing Co. in history. If interested, my contact info is on site.

Living/working in Washington D.C. area?
I'm considering moving to the D.C. area, or the Virginia or Maryland suburbs as well. I'm looking for a job that pays decently, and was impressed with all the job listings for that area in the Washington Post. (Jobs suck where I live outside Pittsburgh.) Anybody who lives there, works there, been there, offer any advice to me? Currently I live about 4 hours away, but the closest to D.C. that I've been is Annapolis. Any impressions of that area appreciated.
Living/working in Washington D.C. area?
this is home and i love it. you can get a good mix of country, cities, and suburbs, and beaches all within two hours of anything else. traffic sucks, but you learn to deal with it.
the world here is wierd, however theres some much to do, and see! you could def. make a lot of money here! I promise!
Reply:Washington DC is a great city to visit but living there is a different story. After New York and San Francisco, it is probably the most expensive city in the country (although Boston is comparable too). But it's an astronomically expensive city to live in. Crime rate is high as well in the city and some suburbs, although there are safer parts of the city as well. The federal government is obviously the major employer in the region. (Of course, lobbying firms and law firms that are based on the Federal gov't. are also plentiful). D.C. does have a lot to offer - the one thing I miss the most about living in DC is the Smithsonian (besides my family). Also a few universities. However, the people in DC are self-absorbed and not as friendly, the city doesn't have as many neighborhoods with local character as most cities, and contrary to popular belief, the restaurants are pretty dismal.
Reply:Depending on what you want to do, depends on where you should live. Commuting here can be a nightmare, so plan effectively! If you have been to Annapolis, you probably know it's a great town. Near the water, always busy, even in winter, and only about 40 mins from downtown DC.
If you are planning on working directly in DC, I would recommend either living in the city, or a close by city in VA, Arlington, or Alexandria. Your commute could still be 30 mins even on metro, but close enough to drive if you choose to as well.
Montgomery County, Silver Spring MD(downtown), is also only a short drive from DC, metro accessible. Fairfax County in VA, Springfield, Fairfax, Tysons Corner, all busy cities, and also metro accessible to DC.
Reply:I have many family members out there, and I spend about two weeks with them every summer. We also go there Thanksgiving week, so I love going around there.
Washington DC is awesome. There is a lot of crime in some areas, but if you go downtown, it is very safe. I never felt unsafe while there.
My family lives in Damascus, Maryland, which is a beautiful town about an hour north of DC. You can take the metro from shady grove, which is about a ten minute drive, and cut the trip down a bit. Damascus is the ideal place to raise a family.
Washington DC is very expensive, so look closely for some bargains.

DC is a great city. But, you gotta' live here!
It will be a great experience - and fun, too!
If your expertise lies in any areas like administrative, clerical,
writing, editing, people managing, etc. -
Send your best resume to your Federal Congressman and Senator. Follow up with a phone call, and ask for other leads if necessary. Pay is good and what a cool place to work!
Instead of working some dull place, hoping to sightsee at the Capitol over the weekend -- why not work at the Capitol?
Or the Smithsonian, or the National Zoo?
And, rent a place, maybe right there on Capitol Hill, for 6 months or so, while you get to know the City. Rent is high! And, parking is even more expensive. We have tons of great neighborhoods all over the City.
Best to you.
Reply:You couldn't pay me enough to live in DC. I live close enough to get their news. The crime rate is staggering. I had a sister-n-law that used to live there and has now moved out of state, the one and only thing she said about living in DC was that it's nice to live somewhere else that you don't feel your going to be jumped every time you walk out the door. I don't know what the jobs are paying you or what area you want to work in, but I know she asked for a extra10,000 from her job, just for parking costs.
Although Virginia isn't that far away there are parts of Virginia that are expensive to live in as well ,,, but there is less crime and it's beautiful around the Alexandria area. Before choosing make sure to check out the real estate around where you would like to live.
Reply:Well I've lived and worked in the DC area all my life and I maintain that it's not as bad as people say. To start, the crime rate in DC has been falling for quite some time. I won't say it's one of the safest cities in the world, but I will say the crimes are not evenly distributed. Meaning, some specific areas have a serious crime problem. But much of DC is actually OK, and getting better. I would recommend Maryland or Virginia anyway because it's more affordable and easier to get around.
Recently there has been a strong gentrification movement in the DC area. It seems that $200k + condos are popping up everywhere. I myself was shocked when I wanted to move out of my roommate situation and into my own place. I don't make lots of money due to my return to school, and my only options were stay with my roomie or get ghetto "Section 8" housing. If you start looking for jobs, then make sure you keep an eye on housing prices as well. $37k a year before taxes can seem decent but if your rent is $1200 a month it's not so great. But, the job market IS pretty good in DC, partially due to the fact the Feds are based here.
I would come and visit. It's too hard to give you a feel for this city over the net. Spend a few weekends here in different areas and see how it suits you. That's the best recommendation I can make.

dc is ok in terms of culture, but the surrounding areas suck. esp if you like to drive. it will take you 2 hours to drive 6 miles in nova, most times of the day. i've even driven in the city and i much prefer that to the burbs. good luck!

What to learn after learning fundamentals of C++?
I've decided to learn C++ as a hobby, and maybe a job will come out of it down the road. I'm trying to build myself a little road map of what to learn. After you learn the fundamentals of C++, what do you learn next? I've checked out some Windows Programming books, but most seem to be geared towards the C programmer?
I'd like to learn how to build small applications, and games. Can someone please suggest some books?
What to learn after learning fundamentals of C++?
First learn Datastructures. Classes are very important to proper C++ development, so learn it, and use it. There's something satisfying about being able to declare and object you've made and give it near English instructions.
I'd learn OpenGL and/or DirectX for game programming, there's alot of higher level math in them (many texts bog you down with proofs, which you may or may not want/need).
Then if you're going toward web, there's
HTML, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL, JAVA, ASP, JSP
probably in that order.
Reply:select and learn your tools in c++...
learn opengl in c++ or directx in c++...
learn to develop using third party frameworks and integrating with other languages and formats..
you can work with c++...good show...now use it to branch out..
if you wanna get into hardcore gaming and stuff...study the long lost art of assembly programming..
windows and mac api's are geared towards c instead of c++ for backwards compatibility and standards...but you should have no problem working with them in c++...
Reply:After the basics, you would need to shift into Windows Programing. This is a lot more complex, but well be the meat of what you well use.

Jobs without college?
hey, my name is mark and im in 9th grade. i am failing school(like 5 f's and 2 c's) and i hate school beacuse i feel that i am learning things that i will not use in life, such as math. alot of jobs do not require math. anyway, i was wondering what i should do i want a job that pays 50-60 thousand a year i know that might be high but anyway, does anyone know the average salary for some jobs or maybe where you work if oyu didnt go to college. its not that i dont want to go to college, just that i know that i cant because i dont have the motivation. and please, no bullshit answers like (go to college or you'll be ****** dont decide not to go you'll regret it) because i might go later in life
Jobs without college?
well I don't know of any jobs that pay about 50-60 thousand without college but you could ask around other places like construction companies or Iron workers they still might require a high school diploma or a college degree. but there is not much room for advancement without a college degree and if you don't want to go to college that is fine as well i guess. but to answer you question where you would use math in life is in school that you are going to that is part of life as well don't forget. your every decision is a domino and one will effect all the other one its called the domino effect they talk about it in government classes and economics classes. so just concentrate on school i know high school is an environment made from boredom just get involved in sports time will pass by a little faster and who know you might decide to go to college after all. also just concentrate on learning the material don't worry about why or when you'll use it cause who knows when you need to know then area of a triangle or what the value of x is if its equal to 5y and y is equal to 2.
Reply:No way will you be making 50-60 thousand dollars a year with no education after high school. NO WAY, period, unless your family has some good connections.
You don't have to go to a 4 year college, but you NEED some sort of skill or education after high school. Get used to it. Start looking into trade schools.
Reply:Given that you are only in 9th grade, it is a little early to decide what you can't do, but assuming you end up not going to college, there are some jobs out there you might consider, even if most of them need some training. Long distance truck drivers seem to make decent money, as do prison guards, and you don't have to go to college to do either. Auto mechanics are always in demand, and plumbers and electricians can do pretty well. While it is true that life is easier for those who go to college and most of them end up earning more than those who don't, there are professions for those who do not go to college. You just have to be purposeful about it, rather than drifting from meaningless job to job.
Reply:there are some 50K jobs but they aren't alwasy easy to find
Mostly it's 18K jobs unless you learn a skill.
How will you know if you are being cheated when they give you a 7% raise if you don't know your math?
Reply:check out the police academy. You get paid a decent amount and I believe you get insurance coverage.
Reply:Hi Mark, we all are put through things in school we think there may be no need for. Because you are taking algebra, it doesn't mean you'll end up sitting at a desk all day crunching numbers. The problem-solving skills you will learn in algebra will be helpful in geometry, which in turn will be helpful in calculus. It doesn't mean you'll be an accountant. The process provides you with the building blocks you need to get to the next level. Or, in the process you may discover you do like numbers and are good at it. Or you will know for sure you don't like it. If you don't think your high schools grades are good enough for a 4-year university, you can attend a community college after graduation and then go on to a 4-year university, or go to a trade or technical school. Next year, you should be meeting with your high school guidance counselor who can help you plan your next steps. The bottom line is there is a lot of competition out there within the university system and businesses are going to give the highest-paying jobs to those individuals who have the best grades and education. College isn't for everyone, but that doesn't mean you should give up on your studies. Please do the best you can now. Education at any level is a gift. Making the most of it will only benefit you in the long run.
Good luck.
Reply:I know a few people with Masters Degrees that barely make $50 thousand a year. And I no high school drop outs that make $500 thousand +. But no matter what you do, you need an education. You say you don't need math. In almost job I have had, i needed math. Maybe not calculus, but math. Algrebra comes in handy. Alot of things you will never use, but alot of them you will.
But frankly, if you have no motivation, you won't have much of a work ethic. Not to be rude, but you will lucky to keep a job flipping burgers unless you learn to do things we don't want to do because it's our job. Right now, school is your job. And you need to put your focus into it. You sound fairly intelligent, just lazy because you don't want to do it. That will be an even bigger problem then no college.
Reply:I think job you could do and don't need so experience is
http://www.googleadvertise.com they have a good members support and programs.
Reply:Hey, Mark. You and I are in the same boat. I'm 19 and just graduated high school in May as the valedictorian with a 3.93 unweighted GPA. I was also awarded a 75% Bright Futures Scholarship. So, I know that I'm sufficiently intelligent to get through college, and I've been attending a community college in my town for two semesters and a summer term so far, but it just doesn't seem like the path I should take. Right now, my major is set to business administration. I signed up for five classes this semester, four of which were completely online. Long story short, I ended up withdrawing from all four online classes and the teacher of my in-class course called me this afternoon and said that she withdrew me before I failed (very kind teacher). I just don't seem to be interested in any of the courses. I know it's not true, but I feel like I'm being pressured to go to college and do well because I did so well in grade school. College to me seems like a waste of time and money, especially when I've already paid well over $700 out of pocket for books, not including the gas it takes to get to school (it takes a good 25 minutes one way, and I drive an older Ford pickup). I would much rather learn a skill that I can use (such as welding, carpentry, fabrication, auto repair, etc.) since I know for a fact that I want to have my own automotive customization shop in the future. However, I don't want to just throw my scholarship away, but I'm likely to lose it anyway because of poor grades.
So, trust me, I know how you feel. It's hard to know since we can't see into the future. I know Bill Gates never went to college, and look where he ended up. Then again, Gates' situation is a one-in-a-million kind of opportunity. Not everyone can have a career like that. I've been researching what a person can do without a college degree, but I don't have in-depth information yet. I've always thought that, with God's help, a person can be successful without college, but skipping college, and even going later in life has it's own hardships. Either path a person chooses is going to be difficult, you just have to pick your choice and work at it diligently.
You seem to me like an intelligent person (at least you know how to spell; most people don't). I know that if you work hard, you will succeed. However, don't confuse the word "success" with the phrase "worry free." Either path, college or not, will be difficult. Just choose your path, hit the road, and run.
If I find more information, I'll post it up. Just know someone who has been where you are is having to make the same decision a few years down the road.

Let's say i became a millionaire through my business:
I would still continue to engage in my business and focus on turning it into an empire! I will still continue to do my charity works (monetary) once a year, on my birthday!
Let's say i became A millionaire through lottery:
If i trully love my job then i will continue working and focus on becoming an great expert in that field! I would still lead a prudent life; so i will save the 1 million dollars in my bank. Upon my death, that million dollars plus other savings will be donated to UNICEF!
Reply:Once you've bought everything you've ever wanted, then what? Would you be happy, or just happier? A person can spend a million dollars quite easily, so to buy that beach house you'd have to keep that job. If you gave all to charity, you'd have to keep that job. As a matter of fact, you'd most probably have to keep some job to hold on to that million dollar nest egg for life. So, how much would your life really change? Possibly not that much, except when trying to find true friendship or true love. Who could you trust, are they there for you or your money? Funny, how life works, things we think will liberate us, often enslave us with more fear and worry.

You, Syd, Pyro, Is-chan and other scary people would be the group in the corner, freaking everyone else out.
Me, Tally, Blade's Destiny Shana, AriGato, Shadow Ninja, Solcrest, Dango, and Yori would be the innocent group. ^_^
Darth would be some strange social outcast who doesn't associate with others, and when he does, he's really nice and surprises you.
Eliminate and Sephiroth would probably stay to themselves.
Something tells me Chu and Shadow Mist would be the "high up" people in our school. Blank-kun too. Also, Yamanaka.

Reply:C%26amp;A School...
No cliques, because all of us love the same thing - anime and manga! There will be school societies, though, like the Yaoi Manga Club or the Philosophy in Anime Society lol.
Jobs - in accordance to the anime/manga that the student was an all-time fan of; if she's a Naruto fan all throughout her life, then it can be certain that she'll grow up into a highly-ranked ninja. As for me, I'll become the first Hokage who's skilled in Alchemy and wields a zanpakuto as a primal weapon lmao....
Anime A: ...err, none that I could think of right now...
Reply:I think that would be fun, going to school with all my Contacts! Wouldn't get much studying done (unless it's for an anime class), but I would enjoy seeing you all every day. I apologize, but I do not know everyone that well to know who would be best at what. I just wanted mainly to say that it would be fun to be in school with all of you.
Reply:Lol I'd prolly be a nerd... people tend to think I'm a scary weirdo XD
Dont know where they got that idea from *whistles*
Hmm...
Lexdemon would be a lunch person cuz he feeds us cookies!

Heather is prolly the principle
Mizutoki would prolly be really popular lol
Forever me is the assistant principle or whatever
Fullmetal_chick is the janitor... JK JK don't torch me!
*Thinking of more*
*edit:
Lol! Heheh.. I like Isabelle's ideas XD

Reply:i'm the principal ...ok school is out for the day as your homework the whole school must go home and watch 5 episodes of naruto and 5 episodes of death note and 5 episodes at random..classes dismissed !!!!....god i love my job!!!!
edit= all teachers are allowed free anime reign so you may watch 10 episodes of any ONE series...you're choice
Reply:i would be the sexy school nurse... lol i'll help out all the hot high school guys that have aches and pains... but with sexyness comes being a little twisted so if you're hurt and you're a girl dont bother comming!!!! lol and if i was a student unfortunatly i think i would be with the prepy kids... i kinda look like a walking babie doll so i dont think the goth kids would like me :( but i dont want to be stuck up either... can't we just all be friends and not have any clicks?
Reply:Everyone who likes anime and manga would proably be in our own little cool clique because we all pretty much have similar interests when it comes to that department! I have no clue what kind of person I would be though I mean I don't consider myself a prep or a lunch kind of person! People can put me into whatever category they want! :-P
Anime Q: Ino Yamanaka from Naruto. I just see her as someone who takes like 2 hours to put her make-up on and get dressed and stuff.
Reply:i would be in the itachi lovers clique....as for your anime q it would be mami honda from super GALs
Reply:HEY!!!

preppiest anime character,ummm,lets see,idk.
On downside of canadian working in mens jobs during www2 was that?!?
a) they were not allowed to do meaningful production jobs.
b) the government did not help them look after their children
c) they paid more taxes than men
d) it was expected that they would give up their jobs when the war was over.
On downside of canadian working in mens jobs during www2 was that?!?
With over a million Canadians serving in the Armed Forces during the war, enormous new employment opportunities appeared for women in workplaces previously unknown to them. To encourage women to work in factories, machine shops, and other heavy industries, the Canadian government offered free child-care and tax breaks.
The answer is D.

How bad do gaps look like for part time jobs?
so i'm a college student and i'm not looking to go into a major career anytime soon. i've worked 2 part time jobs in the past. i want to work this summer part time at a coffee shop. the thing is i know it's good i've had experience with jobs in the past, but the 2 jobs i've had, if i put them down on my application, there would appear to be a big gap in working. for example, my most recent job lasted 12/05-9/06. my job before that was 7/04-8/04. the reason i left was honestly school, i didnt want to work during school b/c my education is important. does this big gap necessarily look bad? if i have an interview later on, if they ask why the big gap, is it a bad answer to say "my education is important to me." does it make me look bad b/c i could leave anytime because school is more important than work or will they admire my honesty? btw if it affects your opinion on this, these past jobs are part time jobs like clothing stores, it's not like a major career i'm talking here. thanks
How bad do gaps look like for part time jobs?
The typical HR director won't worry about gaps for jobs that aren't career oriented. Gaps are only important when you are trying to get a job in a career field that you've been employed before.
Reply:You'll be fine especially since you are a college student. It is actually expected to see some gaps due to the academic workload if you are a full time student.
Reply:gaps are okay if you are in college, it is not okay looking when trying for a full time job
Reply:Gaps really don't count for much for part-time jobs. Especially when you are going to school. And they usually like people who care about education. Should not be a problem.

Is it fair for someone to have a better quality of life and make $$ b/c of the intelligence they're born with?
This is a philosophical question I keep asking myself. Say, for example, one person is born with a mathematical brain and will get a high paying job as a geologist or mechanical engineer. Another person is born with a creative brain. This is person is an excellent writer and artist, but b/c of the way many modern societies work, this person's job outlook will be limited to lower paying jobs since few ppl can make it as famous authors, artists, and musicians. The two people are equal in gender, personality, upbringing, religion, motivation, health, energy etc. the only factor is their intelligence. One is at the far "left" of the intelligence spectrum, and the other is at the far "right" (ie, right brain vs. left brain). Do you think it's fair? Have you ever wondered about this? Let me know your thoughts.
Is it fair for someone to have a better quality of life and make $$ b/c of the intelligence they're born with?
life isnt fair kid get used to it i work with computer programmers ex marines and herion addicts at the same time we all work in steel mill most of these guys didnt even graduate high school but make 50 k a year cuz we do dangerous work %26lt; 3 people died so far this year %26gt; the musician and writers ned to be poor it feeds the mental and gives them something to write about and the mechanical engineer cant really creat anything he wishes he couldve been the rock star his life will never fall or stumble his kids will end up as junkies because he spoiled them and didnt make them work and guess whos kids will be the next engineer the poor musicians because they were poor and had to work to acheive everything life is kiida equal but it wont apply to you it wil apply to the next generation the brain power thing is all about how you grew up not about the actual abilities thier brain arent even formed to think till they are 1 or 2 your not born a certain way everything is lerned and no kid is raised the same hell me and my siblings are light years apart im some blue collar worker wuith 3 kids at 25 them they havent even kissed a girl at 18 my sister goes to europe twice a year there is no good mold for anything life is what it is have fun and work hard and see where u end up thats really what its about
Reply:Well, consider it from the other end. You are paying two people. One is a creative sort and one is a scientific sort. If the scientific person can do work that makes you lots of money then you would want to keep that person. Paying him/her more makes sense. The same would also apply to the creative person but lets say that of the two the scientific person makes the most money for you. It makes sense that the scientific person should make more money. If the situation were reversed then it should also be true.
Another situation to look at: the NFL. You have various types of people working in the NFL. You have scientific people who are doing work such as medicine or even research. You have creative people such as the people in advertising. You also have the people who are gifted with the physical ability to play the game of football. And they are gifted well. These players are the ones actually making the money for the teams. A team that had horrible players but great intellectual and creative people would probably not make much money. A team that had great players but horrible intelliectual and creative people would probably still make money. Those players are the money makers for the operation and should be paid more.
Reply:Yes it is fair because there are fewer mathematical people then artistic people. Art looks, sounds, and feels nice but it does not improve our technology in any way. Society gets the better end of the deal with a mechanical engineer than they do with a singer.
Reply:Actually, I don't think that's necessarily true. I've gotten a lot of promotions, without a college education and no experience simply because I use common sense and have a great work ethic. (Usually - today I happen to be answering questions on YA). I think that people who show enthusiasm can learn the tasks they need to in order to become very successful. I was actually given a VP position at a major corporation with just a high school diploma. All of this is because I've learned how to channel my creative nature towards jobs that are not traditionally considered creative. Of course, I'm not really less intelligent than others, just educated differently.
Reply:It's not just fair; it's necessary for the progress of the species. People of extraordinary talents -- whether mental, physical, psychological -- need to be permitted to exploit those talents to raise the living standards of the rest of us.
You don't need to read Ayn Rand to get this. You can just watch "The Incredibles."
Reply:I think this is where the saying "Life's not fair" applies pretty well. Besides, no one's going to be exactly the same except for intelligence...the smartest person in the world could choose to do absolutely nothing with his/her life.

Clueless. older man needs a class C CDL license. what and where should he begin. to much info on web.?
I don't know anything about CDL license. He has a great job if he gets his class c. When I look it up on the pc..it is to much info. They say class c is not hard to get..here is the catch...he can not read. I will have to help with everything. He has been driving this type of truck on the farm for years. Now it is going to be across states. Please help !
Clueless. older man needs a class C CDL license. what and where should he begin. to much info on web.?
The catch is the can't read statement. You can help him study. You can even help him fill out the proper forms. The problem is, he must take the test by himself, and that takes some serious reading. You might try to see if the DMV will allow you to function as a "translator."
I anticipate some difficulty because your friend will be expected to read signs while driving. Many are simple and should be easy for him to recognize, such as "stop," "yield," "one way" and such. Others will be more difficult to deal with such as "Through traffic merge left," or "Road closed for construction, take rte 95 between 8pm and 6am."
Don't forget, his license means he will be responsible to keep up with changes in the law, and that could mean more reading later. An officer, or a judge will not accept his inability to read as an excuse.
You will do him a greater favor if you can convince him to take some adult education reading classes. He can use your help, there, and the knowledge will be more valuable. He can earn his license and be able to participate in many more activities.
Reply:start at the company that he works for or go to your local dmv/motor vehicle. they will tell you exactly what to do and where to go and take it. you can also look it up on the internet...just go to a local search engine like google.com and type in the state that you are from and dmv after it. that should work....if it doesnt hit me back and ill try to help you further
Reply:CDL means "Commercial Driver's License". Go or call the local driver's license office. They will explain to you what needs to be done in your state to get a Class C CDL. The person wanting the license will have to take and pass a written test and a driving test to prove they are capable of handling that type of equipment.
Reply:instead of learning how to get the license may be he should learn to read.there are classes that teach adults to read you could look that up on the web.you could call and check with the DMV about the license.
Reply:The best place to get info about obtaining a class C license is your local DMV. You can look them up in your yellow pages. Good luck to both of you.

Why do some people use " c/o " when mailing/receiving a package?
I see it sometimes at my job, that a person will have " c/o Company Name", and then they have their name above it. Doesn't it all get delivered to the same place regardless of putting " c/o " on there?
Why do some people use " c/o " when mailing/receiving a package?
It's just something to help the post office know it wasn't mis-addressed. Plus it lets the person who receives the mail know it's not for the company in general but specifically for that person.
Reply:c/o means "care of." It just makes the delivery a bit clearer for everyone, as the address is for the company, not the individual person. People use this a lot when mailing something to someone who is staying at a hotel.
Reply:care of
Reply:c/o stands for 'care of'. so if ur an employee of a company ABC, theyll write Ms... 'Care of' ABC company, to indicate that it is to an employee of this company.
Reply:c/o means "In care of". This is sometimes put on personal packages sent to business addresses. Other times it is material sent to someone who isn't at that address, but will be hand delivered to the correct person. For example, my grandma used to send my Christmas present to my office, so she would put Susan B c/o JA (initials of where I worked), so it would be identified as personally for me. In addition, I often send a things to my mom for my brother (who believe it or not is in jail). Since he doesn't live with her, I send it to his name c/o my mom, so she knows to deliver it to him. I hope this makes sense.
Reply:Care Of / Name of Recipient
Reply:'c/o' is similar to 'thru' in letter sending. People send a letter to the company but do not know exactly to whom to address the letter so they indicate 'c/o' e.g., when applying for a job, an applicant may write 'to: HR Dept. c/o Recruitment Officer or c/o John D. (whom the applicant knows).
When perople in your office write 'c/o company name' then they write their name above it, it could mean that you are in a building occupied by a number of companies and the letter could be mis-delivered because, although companies are unique, people names are common.
Reply:It stands for "Care of." It's just a way of letting your company know that it's probably a personal package, being delivered to you at your place of business, instead of your home.
Reply:It simply means "in care of". Example: If you were sending a package to a small child, you could use the child's name in the address, but would mark it c/o the parents name.

Does pre-c.u.m. really do the job?
ok me n my partner arent really TTC yet.. but we're planning on it..i havent been taking any birthcontrol at the momment.. cause i heard u should be off it for a while before TTC.. so for now we're just using the pull-out method.. we want to start TTC next month or the following month.. because we want our due date to be in the summer of next year..like may - june.
so yea we had sex on day 7,15,16,17,18,20
and well all of those times.. he did pull out.. and some of the times i had an orgasm during sex. and a few times right after he ejaculated.. he made me orgasm with his hands.. and i heard that female orgasm after male, really helps when TTC ecause it contracts n opens the cervix. n brings it down so the sperm can pass more easily.
also i had been taking robitsson cause of my cold.. n i heard that makes the mucus thinner n its easier for the sperm to swim
now i think i might even conceive this cycle.. which isnt bad cuz our due date wud be at the end of april or may.

What g.c.s.e do i need to do this job..?
I would love to own my own fashion boutique! what g.c.s.e would i need?
also.. what A/O levels?
x
What g.c.s.e do i need to do this job..?
Business studies would be helpful if you were thinking of starting a business. Also art might be useful cos you'd have to decorate the shop, plus fashion is kind of like art so it's all good. Sounds like a fab idea so go 4 it :)
Reply:ok you need to understand business - i think to own a shop you would need a lot of prior experience.
to understand fashion - look at NVQ's of BTEC diplomas in fashion.
GCSE wise - you'd need 4-5 GCSE's C grade or higher and one in maths and English is a must!
I'd advise after the college fashion course look at university - business management and fashion.
talk to someone at connexions and they'll be able to advise you about whats in your area
Reply:I would go for business studies/business communications.
Reply:If you're lucky in starting a business, you don't technically need any qualifications.Just cash and someone in the know!

I guess you're pretty limited, you could probably do stuff with administration.
Reply:You've got ideal qualifications for admin, but its not everyone cup of tea. However, admin jobs are often entry level roles that give you a good idea about where you might want to go in the future. I started in admin and landed in an HR team, loved it so much that I stayed in HR (now HR Manager in a fashion company). You will also find a lot of jobs available in call centres and probably retail too.
Talk to a careers adviser or someone at the JobCentre, they can help steer you towards what you want to do. But don't worry too much about it, it takes some time out of education before you figure out what you really want (unless you are set on a profession like law or medicine from a young age).
You'll find your way.
Reply:You have strongish GCSE (or alternative) grades in the big subjects of Maths, English and Science, so you should have quite a few apprenticeship/job opportunities open to you.
What you may find however is that the A'levels will not open up that many more opportunities. Most that you will see advertised in your local Connexions Centre (or on their web-site) will be pitched at GCSE level.
Exceptions may be retail management (e.g. the Arcadia group) and some engineering apprenticeships who may look for A'levels (the latter will probably want Science A'levels though).
So, as long as you don't mind competing for GCSE level opportunities you should be OK. You should find quite a few administrtion vacancies knocking around, which, if you target larger companies, may offer good long-term prospects. But be prepared to be doing general admin/office work for the first couple of years at least. You will not find many (if any) IT vacancies outside basic data inputting or IT sales work. For IT careers you would be advised to continue onto University.
In fact, if you want to significantly open up your job prospects beyond what you find at Connexions, University may be the best option.
Reply:You may wish to add an English Language qualification to your list before applying for jobs
Reply:Before leaving school you better take a few more English classes.

Do I fill in P46 and tick C for my full time temp job?
I work as bank staff (as and when needed type) with my first job with £0-100 weekly earning and started a temp full time job recently with expected income of £280 weekly. I was asked to submit either a P45 or P46 but since I'm still employed with the first one, guess I have to give P46. How will the tax work for me? How does emergency tax differ from those with BR code and which one is better in terms of lesser tax pay? Any answer is greatly appreciated.
Do I fill in P46 and tick C for my full time temp job?
Wilfred is not correct. BR is basic rate tax with no tax free allowances. Emergency code gives you the basic tax free allowance on a week one basis. It looks as if your new job is your main job, so you should tick the box on the P46 which indicates this is your only or main job. Then contact the tax office to let them know that your bank work is your second job and ask them to allocate BR against that income. All your tax free allowances will then be allocated to your new job where you have a regular income and earn the most.
Reply:BR basic tax is exactly the same as emergency tax you pay tax at the basic rate until the tax office have given both your jobs the correct code inform the tax office you have two jobs they will sort out. you cannot give the second employment your P45 because you have not left that employment so the company wont give you one. you dont need to fill the P46 in because it will not apply to you are still in employment

The A/C is broken at my corporate job. Don't they have to send us all home for unworkable conditions?
Its hot!!! We can't breathe and everyone is getting a headache. This building is brand new, but has had problems from day one, elevators breaking to sewage problems! Air was broken 1 month ago, they sent everyone home around lunch time, but fixed it soon after, and some people had to come back to work! Thanks.
The A/C is broken at my corporate job. Don't they have to send us all home for unworkable conditions?
Nope, you can asked to go home on vacation, or with out pay. The dont have to send you home. I have been in many plants that have no AC, and it is hot real hot. But the workers just keep on working.
Reply:They should at least supply fans to help circulate the air, check with OSHA.
Reply:No. Being hot is not unworkable. There were building and offices before AC.
Reply:I'm not sure if there are laws in place that requires them to allow you to go home. However, as a courtesy to their employees they should consider that under those conditions and being uncomfortable, you are able to work as effectively.
Reply:It depends on your state laws. In most cases, it has to be actually dangerous not just uncomfortable. Consider what conditions factory workers or construction crews go through.
Elevators are not a big deal unless you're handicapped, then they have to provide another accommodation.
The sewage is probably the worst thing health wise. That may warrant an evacuation depending on the severity.
Check with your HR department. They can hopefully help.
Reply:If you worked in Fantasy land. Tough it out until they fix it and be grateful you have a job that even cares enough to provide air conditioning, not everyone is so lucky.
Reply:If it exceeds 2 hours or more yes. Look up the Ocea laws...
Reply:submit a claim on you and your co-workers behalf complaining about the conditions...if the company wont do anything, then go to a lawyer and see if u can take any sort of action for unworkable conditions if it is really that bad
Reply:Yes, they should send everyone home
tell them, that I ok'd it.

What jobs except misdemeanors, houston tx?
My girlfriend has a class c misdemeanor, and she is really having a hard time finding a job, does anyone know any jobs in houston texas that hire misdemeanors, besides fastfood?
What jobs except misdemeanors, houston tx?
Tell to try a staffing company.. some staffing company will help ones with misdemeanors. Or a small company that will not check backgrounds.. try looking in the chronicle. Tell her good luck!!
Reply:Typically hiring managers are looking for felonies on background checks, not misdemeanors. However, some employers vary based on type of job and type of violation.
For example, many retail stores will not hire someone with theft charges, even if they're at the misdemeanor level.
Tell her to look around at a variety of jobs, then be honest with her employers. Someone out there will be happy to give her a shot!

Will employers in finance field care if I have one C+ on my transcript even if I have mostly A's otherwise
I recently got my marks and I have mostly A's in my transcript, the min I have (apart from the C+ in an accounting course) is B+. I know for jobs like investment banking you need very high marks, which I have apart from that C+. I just finished second year.
Will employers in finance field care if I have one C+ on my transcript even if I have mostly A's otherwise
Most probably won't, but some might. It depends on whether you're looking at an academic finance field (like teaching) and how much competition there is for a position. Sometimes employers will check a transcript and there is a huge number of applicants for a job, and eliminate everyone who got below a certain GPA or who got below a certain grade in finance courses just as a way to weed the applicant pool down to a more managable level.
In general, though, if you work on getting all A's in your other classes, I would expect most employers to only look at your GPA, if that.
Reply:Not likely. Only if you're looking at a very competitive position (lots of highly qualified applicants). Your last year has the most weight, also - 2nd year is almost meaningless.
Reply:Very unlikely. They look more for your experience and how good of an interview you give them.
Reply:Very unlikely.!

Is it ethical for a paint sales rep to recommend our jobs to other contractors to bid on?
Our business has slowed considerabley in the last few months. The only thing different in this area is the new paint Sales Rep for the company we buy paint from. We buy exclusively from them and they often recommend us to customers for jobs. But lately they have been recommending other contractors, not just to thier customers because that would just be alittle competition, but they are also taking our personal jobs that we bid on and calling up other painters and sendig them to the G.C. to outbid us. Today they called us to recommend a job that was anothers contractors job, telling us that he was afraid that the contractor may use another companies paint and told us how his bid was low but he would call the owners and talk to them to get us the job. We are not back stabbers, we do not want to be stabbed in the back either. We desperately need the work but not at the cost of someone elses livelyhood. What should we do this is a small area not to many other sales co.'s 2 work wit
Is it ethical for a paint sales rep to recommend our jobs to other contractors to bid on?
Call the owner or manager and tell on the rep. This is highly un-ethical.
See what you can do to do business with other suppliers.
Don't share customer names when you're getting quotes.

Reply:This opportunity is offered by a well-known, 8-year-old, debt-free company called Nutronix.
You can make money the normal way, by selling and recruiting. They are not just paying you something because you are giving them money.
However, this company has a unique feature. If you are paying $55 per month (see My Berry Tree), after 20 months, if you have not qualified for commissions yet, you are going to finally qualify then. Once you qualify, you get commissions every month, but you keep paying the fees. Alternatively, you can make it 10 months instead of 20. It just costs more. And for that money, you get some product, too.
Reply:West at home, Alpine access, 1800-flowers, working solutions, VIP desk, Convergys, 1800-Contacts...to start you off on your search. No fee just apply for the job if you qualify.

If you go to the work at home directory area they have companies listed by type of work. There are several things you can do from home. Like at home customer care representative, transcription, writer, proofreader, editor, blogger, telemarketing from home, mystery shopping, virtual assistant, and freelance projects. Good luck!
Reply:To answer your question, YES, it is really possible to earn money from home. My name is Hashim Edwards, and I work for the compmany called Ameriplan USA. I was just like you, very skeptical of all of the "work at home" company, until a friend of mine signed up for this particular, and made $15, 000, in as little as eight months. It is really a internet/home based company, I've just started three weeks ago, and I am already getting many preople interested. Although I am still learning how to do this whole thing, Its still would be a good investement for me, and others. You must be at least 18 years of age to start, have a valid US mailing adress (meaning that you do not have to live in the US) (NO P.O BOXES), and a credit, or debit card. If you are interested in this program please see my website listed in the sources. And when you finish, just request an interview with the company, and someone will get back with you. Good luck, and I look forward to you joining my team.

Then, once you find what you want, research the company. DON"T SKIP THIS STEP! Check out the site on the Better Business Bureau to check credentials. Then you get in contact with a representative. Just remember! No online job is make money easy!! It all requires work and time. Also, if you have to pay money to join, that's not a job! I have some free survey sites that are very reliable just check out my profile by clicking my name or email me for them. I only give sites that I've been paid by so you won't get scammed. They're all reliable and I've never had a problem with them. (I've been doing them for a year now) The best part is that anyone can do them and they're easy. You won't get rich but they definitely help with bills :)
2. Btw a lot of the ones above are spammers and I wouldn't trust them
Reply:The only one's I know of are West.com (use to work for them, still technically on the books). It takes about 2 weeks to get on board with them (or longer)...they do a background check, investigation, virtual interview, etc... then you choose which "project" you want to work on... basically you provide customer support to various companies (you choose the company)... then after training x hours, you begin working on your assignment. You can choose your own hours. I use to work at night since I'm a single mom. I'd do it to make extra money..still do. You won't become RICH... NO WAY... but it is extra cash to help you out. Realistically, if you were to work full-time you could actually make around 1500-2000 a month... not a lot at all BUT if you need to stay at home and make SOME money without spending gas, enduring wear and tear on your care, etc... it's ok...
The only other one I know of similar to them is a company called alpineaccess.com... I signed up for them last year and have yet to hear from them regarding the interview process...
Everything else I've seen is an absolute rip off... DO NOT ever fork over money to someone else to run a business. I run my own software development company in the day and all you need is a "service" you can provide, a website/domain/hosting company and some work ethics... Don't be fooled by so-called kits.. it'll never work. If you need a website, please let me know. My website is undergoing some serious changes, but I'll give you a deal.. Plus next week, you'll be able to register for our big-give... a custom website designed by us for free! www.anewit.com !!!
Please keep in mind that so-called business opportunities are different from "work-at-home" opportunities. It's different... a work at home job is exactly that... you work for an employer just as you would in any other circumstance but instead of working in their office, you work from home. WEST.COM and ALPINEACCESS.COM are the ONLY one's I know of like this. The other stuff is just that... pretty fluff. You can make a million if... that's a mighty big IF. RUN FOR COVER when you visit a site and it says... "Make $1000-5000 part-time" or "I'm about to share with you the secret... " or "fill out some envelopes" or "data entry" or "for just 19.99, we'll send you... " or "you don't have to invest alot"... For real legitimate work at home jobs, you don't invest anything but time! NEVER MONEY. PLEASE... if you wanna throw away money, I'll send you a wire account and you can send it to me! ;-) Seriously, don't be gullible. Good luck!
Take care

There is a monthly membership fee - but I have been with the Berry Tree long enough that mine is paid for from my earnings which is very exciting - cause that means I'll just be making a profit - so the investment is paying off!!

I recently signed up for MXI Xocai Chocolate business and have made $900+ in a little under six weeks. Check out my website and give us a call. If you have friends that love/like chocolate and money, it basically sells itself. They are in five countries and basic internet marketing, well be a great start to this business.

It pays, ok, you don't have to invest any out of pocket money to start except to pay for a second phone line monthly. You can find info about these at www.marriott.com. I'm sure there's a link near the bottom for info about job opportunities.

Reply:There are real jobs out there, you just got to know where to look. One good resource for legitimate companies is http://www.workathomedesk.com which is a free site.
Reply:Yes you can work at home, the trouble is finding jobs that actually work. Don't trust get rich quick schemes. Money making programs are the way to go because they give you step by step instruction on how to make money from home. http://www.getonlinemoney.bravehost.com offers some of the best programs and it's where I got my start. Good luck to you!
Reply:There are a number of things you can do. First choose what you are most interested in, for example. Marketing or selling, or filling out paper work. A job is something you get PAID for, not something YOU pay for. Check out this website...

This isn't full time - but it is certainly an opportunity. And if you want to go furtehr then the work you do here can be a showcase fo teh future.

They will pay you between $3 - $20 for each article.
This is real writing work with no payment from you! Please look at the site and judge for yourself.
Reply:1. WelI I actually take surveys for cash. And yes they do pay as long as you know the good ones.
Good luck!
Take care

Anyone know where i can find a job in spain doing a/c, or refrigeration work?
I don't want to put you off coming to Spain, it's a wonderful country and the lifestyle is great. However, I'm sorry to tell you that trying to find any sort of work here is not easy. A lot of ex-pats have returned to the U.K. as they have been unable to find work. If you look in the local papers here, there are hundreds of people advertising their trades. The English have a very bad reputation here for 'ripping off' the English folk. Having said that, if you do decide to come, I hope you find what you are looking for.

Which Language is better in terms of job salary perspective .. is it C++ or PHP in INdia ???
you can get help an expert from
http://tutorialofc.blogspot.com/
many programmer wait here for help you.
Which Language is better in terms of job salary perspective .. is it C++ or PHP in INdia ???
Well. It depends on what you're doing.
Unfortunately, I can't include INdia into this discussion because I simply do not know anything about that programming language.
C++, is for desktop programming. If you're running a Mac, the program finder was made using C++.
Yahoo, apple, intel, etc. will use PHP to code their websites. PHP is similar to C++, but uses a web browser as output, instead of a versatile desktop GUI.
I would encourage learning PHP first; you will not have to learn what compiler is and you will not have to download/buy any software to do so. Although the GCC compiler is free, some people are not easy when it comes to downloading.
Web programming is the way of the future; I've heard from many tech-savvy people, computer admins., and programmers that desktop programming may become obsolete in even ten years. No point to master a language that will or may be extinct from use soon.
Also, writing programs in PHP is very platform compatible; web browsers may have slightly different output between different applications (i.e. mozilla firefox may have web pages which look slightly different than internet explorer - not in a bad way). When coding PHP, you do not have to port your program to PC, Mac, or any of the tens of Linux distributions.
Hope it helps,
Joe
Reply:It all depends on your interest. C++ and PHP both are different platforms. PHP is used for web programming and C++ is used for desktop application programming. C++ is really a strong language and will never end. You can develop games, mathematical programs and anything you want with C++.
Whereas PHP's scope is different.
Both languages have their own importance and scope of jobs. Both have good job opportunities not only in India but also in other places. First you decide which way to go then get started with that language.

I need help to implement these Class in C# or Java..Please help me and thanks?
I have a full time job and I was hire for C/SQL programmer. My company is trying to move into new technology such as .NET / Java. So I need to learn and code using OO programming and recently I asked to implement the followings classes.
I need to write the complete code for a base class name All_Geometry and derived from this base, class Just_Rectangle.
I do need to keep in mind the constraint such as any derived classes from All_Geometry must include a method to calculate the area.
Next step is
Derive from the All_Rectangle class, a new class All_Square, where All_Square constructor will only take one parameter, side length.
Please help me to achieve this as you all know job in essential to live. I understand C# so help is C# would be monumental else Java is fine too.
I need help to implement these Class in C# or Java..Please help me and thanks?
You need to learn how to lie better. This is clearly a homework assignment.
But, in the off chance you can actually understand a programming answer, the basics of inherited and derived classes are the same in C# as they are for most C and C-like languages.

Graduate in sciences & did software courses , how to get jobs in software companies?
I am a graduate in Bachelors of sciences with Maths, Physics and electronics. And I did some software programming languages like C,C++ %26amp; Oracle. And I don't have any experience in software jobs. I just have the experience in customer service and marketing. Now I would like to start my career in a software company and develop my career. The software courses I did Don't have any certification too. Do I need to go through any certified exam for that? As I dont have a computer background how can I start my career in software company. And if at all I can search jobs from my qualification what type of job profile I have to look for.And what might be the next courses I can do for?

Jobs for an 18 year old????
im 18 and have a qualification for I.T skills level 1 and currently on a level 2 course which i may quit, so aprt from dat i dont have many qualifications except for English C GCSE and literatuture %26amp; A* Spanish. Anyone have any tips for jobs i could possibly apply for and realistically get? im willing to try anything aslong as it pays well. thankyou x.
Jobs for an 18 year old????
London underground tube driver, it pays around £40,000 and you can do it with your qualifications.
I'm not sure how much national train drivers get paid.
Another job you could look into possibly is becoming a health and safety inspector, once you become and independant inspector you can earn around £80,000 a year.
once again it can be done with your qualifications but it'll take you a while to get your independant licence.
Finally the best I'd say is a bit harder but try and use your Spanish as a translator. if you were to get an A level in another language and possibly another one in a direction you may be interested in persuing it would really help your chances.
Reply:Not vey much if your not willing to do further learning???
sorry to dissapoint.
Reply:I would approach some companies directly to see what they have to offer. Or what about an IT specialist recruitment agency. Even if they can't help you directly they'll have the contacts and guidance you might need.
Also, don't use text speak (aprt/dat) when applying for jobs. It puts people off! Trust me ... I work in HR and it's a complete no no ..
Reply:why not try a job centre and see if there are any jobs available that match your qualifications?
Reply:McDonalds?
Reply:Rent boy
at 18 you'll get the best rates going lol
Reply:You can be an internet cafe attendant, helping cafe users.
Encoder - this can be on line.
medical transcriptionist- on line also
and
there are a lot of jobs on line, search the web.
Good Luck!
