Assuming he is over 18, he should probably apply for SSI %26amp; SSD. SSI comes with Medicaid, %26amp; SSD with Medicare after 2 1/2 years from application date. There are income and resource guidelines for SSI that he will have to meet. This appliation processs is no quick thing! He'll probably be denied a few times before he's approves. In the meantime, if he has young children in the home, and income and resources are EXTREMELY limited, he may be eligible for Medicaid through his states Department of Human Services. There are also some County funded programs that he may qualify for. Also, check into some local clinics - might get some help there. I would suggest calling a local hospital and asking to speak with someone in Social Services. They can usually refer you somewhere. Here's a link for the Social Security Administration - he can apply for SSI %26amp; SSD online.
Reply:ask the doctors. the doctors have forms to get the medicines for treatment for free. the websites for the meds have forms you can apply directly to them also. just saw something today on TV news re this disease , Univ of Cal San Diego has some new discovery/treatment re: hep c. believe it heals the liver from the cirrohis /scaring of the liver. it's only been used in mice thus far , but it looks promising. there is a website hepatitis neighborhood i think. it's a forum for hep c patients/ nurses/ there are live chats with doctors scheduled.
Reply:How old is he? If he's a minor, his guardian can apply for his state Children's Health Insurance Program. If he's not a minor, he can apply for medicaid through his state Medicaid office.
Reply:medicaid is for long term disability, and retirement . You must be disabled for one year after receiving SSI disability income to get Medicaid. Contact your local welfare department, for local, or state help
Reply:I'm sorry to hear this. I hope all works out.

Here is a web site that will give you a link to EACH state's Medicaid program:

I clicked on several links and they were working, so hopefully your state's IS working. If not, you could look for "Community Information and Referral" in your phone book and call and ask for the appropriate info. No such listing, call a reference librarian.
